    Job Summary

    Onsite - Erlanger, KY

    As a GIS Analyst, you will manage our local GIS Platform to produce, analyze, interpret, and visualize geospatial datasets in support of Fischer Homes’ initiatives.

    You will thrive in this role if you:

    • Serve as a technical leader on GIS within the company.

    These skills will be used to:  

    • Assist in the design, development and management of GIS data resources and operational decisions.
    • Keep a GIS database organized and maintained.
    • Assist with the preparation, reproduction and distribution of maps, graphics, displays and other related documents.
    • Create, edit and publish data layers.
    • Digitize data as needed to include in map layers and datasets.
    • Provide user support for GIS application programs.
    • Manage the import and export of datasets between GIS & AutoCAD.
    • Analyze, resolve, and document problems associated with the data contained in the applicable databases.

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a geospatial related field.
    • 3-5 years of experience as a GIS professional with Experience in Geodatabase management procedures.
    • Proficient with GIS data in ESRI ArcMap/ArcPro environments and ESRI software (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online).
    • Mastery of Core ESRI ArcGIS Toolkit Applications.
    • Experience with GIS programming / scripting languages (Python, SQL).

     

    Physical demands and work environment:

    • Must have use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through use of the telephone and face-to-face contact.
    • Must have the capability to effectively use and operate various items of office-related equipment such as but not limited to the computer, plotter, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

    Description

    The Office of Property Valuation has an opening for a Geoprocessing Specialist II in the Division of Minerals Taxation, Unmined Coal Property Tax Branch. We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to elected officials, staff, and other managers.

    As a Geoprocessing Specialist II for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, you will provide direct technical assistance to PVAs and local officials to resolve tax matters.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Develop and update coal mineability maps and assesses properties using those maps and annual mine maps.
    • Uses GIS digitally to prepare various maps depicting coal seams, property ownership, coal leases, tax districts, etc.
    • Uses coal isopach maps, mine maps and other sources of information, the employee will develop and update mineability maps that the data supports.
    • Resolve Taxpayer protest as assigned
    • Represents Division in meetings and hearings professionally and competently
    The successful candidate must possess clear communication skills to work with taxpayers in person or over the telephone and in writing, sometimes in confrontational situations.

    Minimum Requirements

    Under the direction of the Information Technology Director, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the strategic direction of GIS for Allen County, including directing the activities of four contracted GIS Analysts.      Responsibilities:

    • Analyzes the various alerts the AMI system generates and then decides which course of action is needed to address them whether it be assigning to field staff or whether a more intensive course of action is needed.
    • Maintains, completes and tracks all necessary documentation as required in this position.

    KYTC OIT- GIS Development & Support Specialist

    Are you passionate about making a difference using GIS technology? We are looking for a GIS Help Desk team member who enjoys: (1) helping others, (2) figuring out challenging problems, and (3) sharing with others what you’ve learned and how to apply the solution to the problem.

    You must be a systems thinker who can understand how solving a particular problem the right way can streamline processes and scale for the enterprise. You must enjoy being a “Spatial champion” to help people grow their understanding of spatial technology and how it can help them do their jobs faster and better. This requires a high EQ, a collaborative spirit, excellent communication skills, and a constant desire to grow and learn.

    This is a contractor-based position whose title will be “GIS Development & Support Specialist.” While this is an “Early career” position, every senior GIS team member has started on the GIS Help Desk and then grown into their current position. It is a long-term position, renewed annually. (We’ve had contractors work for OIT for decades).

    This is a remote work position, but you must live in the United States. Also, on rare occasions, there may be a need for an in-person meeting, so living a drivable distance to Frankfort, KY is preferred.

    We need someone with the passion and skills to help fulfill the following roles:

    (1) Help Desk Support – The successful candidate…

    a. Must have at least two years of experience in hands-on, complex GIS analysis, troubleshooting, and customer support. This includes data editing (preferably including data design and management as well), map production, and preferably web or mobile GIS app creation.

    b. Must have strong experience with the ESRI technology stack. Experience using ArcGIS Pro is preferred. Additional experience with Bentley’s GIS/CADD solutions and Google mapping is a plus.

    c. Must enjoy engaging customers to understand (1) what problem(s) they are trying to solve, (2) how their business works, and (3) what technologies might help.

    d. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.

    e. Will provide technical support to the Cabinet’s GIS customers as well as the public. This requires excellent problem-solving skills to resolve issues with Web-based, desktop (local and via Citrix), and mobile solutions.

    f. Must have excellent attention to detail, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and reprioritize tasks as circumstances change.

    Lincoln Trail Area Development District (LTADD), a multi-jurisdictional, planning and development agency, is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to serve as GIS Specialist. Position provides direct support and coordination within the Community Development department. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), engineering, planning, geography, or geology. Planning, mapping, or engineering experience preferred. Relevant software certifications or up to 2 years of practical experience may be substituted for relevant education.

    Areas of work concentration include producing accurate and expedient maps, graphics, datasets, narratives, reports, etc. in support of a variety of projects that involve land use, transportation, utilities, economic, hazards, or other programs that LTADD may be engaged in. Must be able to handle multiple projects, and work effectively with staff, public officials and general public.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $39,499.00 - $44,000.00 per year
