Daren Jones

Daren Jones is a Geoprocessing Specialist with the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He has a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources and Environmental Science with a specialization in GIS and Geology. He began his GIS career in 2016 working as an intern for the Kentucky Geological Survey. After graduating from college, he then moved on to Quantum Spatial, where he worked in photogrammetry and LiDAR. Now he is a state employee with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife. There, Daren assists public officials with GIS and mapping, develops GIS software program applications, and works to increase the efficiency of the GIS system, among other duties. In addition, Daren likes to stay involved with the GIS community outside of work. He has volunteered with the Kentucky Karst Conservancy to help with the LiDAR mapping of Big Bat Cave in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. As well as, has been a member of KAMP since 2017. Daren has attended several KAMP socials/events and wants to continue contributing to the association by encouraging new people to join. He hopes adding new members will help build ties between like-minded individuals and keep the organization up-to-date.
