Introduction to Digital Mapping using ArcMap Desktop and ArcGIS Pro

This workshop is designed for those who have used digital maps but never worked on the creation components of a digital map.  The workshop will utilize commercial software but most of the techniques can also be done in open source software.  The conceptualization and hands on skills will be demonstrated and completed by workshop participants; a website will be available so that participant can continue the learning process after the workshop.

    Concepts:

    • 1.      Clipping of data
    • 2.      Merging of similar data
    • 3.      Querying of data
    • 4.      Creating metadata, map packages and geodatabases
    • 5.      The tricks to joining U.S. Census data
    • 6.      Creation of a final map
    • 7.      Exporting of a map

Note: this is a similar workshop that was offered at Kentucky Wesleyan College earlier in the year, but will utilize ArcGIS Pro in general instead of ArcMap Desktop.
