A Knowledge Worker's Guide to Visual Management

Tim Nolan

Visual Management is the application of Lean and Agile practices to build new ways of working for individuals and teams on-the-fly” (Modus Institute).

In this highly interactive workshop, we will concentrate on…

· How are we as professionals doing the right work?

· How do we come to alignment?

· How do we make decisions?

· Do we understand the work to be done?

· How do we prioritize our work?

· When is it to be delivered?

· How complex is the work?

· Where might the work stumble?

· Can we see what is important?

We will take a systems thinking approach to the complexities of new/unexplored work, (mis)understanding, decision-less meetings, interruptions, prioritization, communicating decisions, and the difficulty of collaboration. We will introduce the system of communications, the system of meetings, and the system of doing the right work at the right time.

We will conduct practical exercises that focus on visualizing our work and limiting our work in progress. We will look at value stream mapping as an effective visualization and put those visualizations into action. There will be exercises to harvest ideas and tackle sticky problems. Ultimately, we will turn learning into action.

Using GeoAI and Deep Learning

Demetrio Zourarakis

This workshop offers a sweeping view of the foundations of machine learning and deep learning, followed by an overview in detail of the integration of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in GIS, also known as “GeoAI”. The content is mainly from the perspective of the rapidly expanding and ever more diversified GeoAI tools inside the ArcGIS platform. The focus will be on learning the basics through brief presentations with examples of applications of machine learning and deep learning using tools already in existence within ArcGIS Pro.

Arcade, and other Scripting Tools

Vince DiNoto

This workshop will explore the basics of scripting languages and their use in geospatial projects to include but not limited to:

· Building Pop-ups that are dynamic in different applications.

· Understanding the formatting of Arcade using the Arcade Sandbox

· Why do I need to improve my workflow using Python Notebooks

· Is Model Builder still a useful tool?
