Geospatial Emerging Technologies

Presenter: Stantec

Abstract: Stantec is leveraging Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) to streamline critical infrastructure inspections for our clients. The collection of up to date feature data is the foundation for asset management and the creation of a virtual twin. To improve the service to our clients, Stantec is leveraging gNext, a SAS platform, that provides photogrammetry and lidar ingestion services, along with computer vision and analytics. The combination of these two technologies allows owners to visually understand the condition of their infrastructure and severity of associated risk.

Presenter: Seiler Geospatial

Abstract: ESRI Site Scan is a Could-based tool for users to manage, organize, and share drone imagery without the need for a dedicated processing PC. Site Scan gives you the ability to organize data from multiple missions into one track to monitor progress and capture consistent flight data.  This product gives you the ability to create high-quality 2D and 3D imagery that can be quickly shared throughout your organization with a click of a button. We will be discussing a brief overview of Site Scan during this discussion.

Presenter: Cyclomedia

Abstract: As cities grow, so does the need for on-demand condition assessment of assets. In the past, this has been done via “boots-on-the-ground” – a time consuming, expensive, and sometimes dangerous practice. With high-resolution street-level imagery and LiDAR, jurisdictions can move many of these condition assessment projects to the desktop. LiDAR point cloud density can be used to mimic retro-reflectivity, 3D imagery can be used to inspect vacant, dilapidated, and abandoned properties, and a combination of both can be used to analyze pavement condition. In this presentation, we will take a look at recent advancements in street level imagery technology that allow jurisdictions to inspect their assets in a safer, smarter, and more efficient way.
